Passive Fire Protection is an integral component of structural fire protection and fire safety in a building. PFP attempts to contain fires or slow the spread, through use of fire resistant walls, floors, and doors.
Passive fire protection, which includes compartmentalization of the overall building through the use of fire-resistance rated walls and floors. Organization into smaller fire compartments, consisting of one or more rooms or floors, prevents or slows the spread of fire from the room of fire origin to other building spaces, limiting building damage and providing more time to the building occupants for emergency evacuation or to reach an area of refuge.

Intumescent coating is an effective way of applying fire protection to steelwork. In the unfortunate event of a fire, intumescent coating applications will protect the structural integrity of the steel for a period of time depending on the severity of the fire. This allows people caught in the building more time to evacuate the premises.

Capable of sealing gaps from 50 – 400 mm, our slab edge systems can withstand substantial tolerance to movement in tall buildings and deliver superior noise reduction values, as well as preventing the spread of fire and smoke.
